FEATURED PROJECT:

Tall Timbers Stoddard Research Lab

Tall Timbers Research Station runs one of the oldest and most respected programs for ecological research in Florida. The original facility was constructed in the 1950’s. Not only was it too small, it did not match its current research program nor meet most current codes. With National Science Foundation seed funding, Tall Timbers built its construction budget to $1.4 million which provided a new 20,000SF facility and total renovation of the older buildings. It now contains laboratories for Small Vertebrate Ecology, Land Management, Fire Ecology, Game Bird Ecology and Forestry. Because of the work produced and the assembled academic staff researchers, The Nature Conservancy, US Fish & Wildlife Commission, National Park Service and US Forestry Service have chosen to co-locate research programs at Tall Timbers. Some labs contain noxious fume hoods and standard lab equipment. The special Library would make any high school proud and the specimen collection is extensive.
