PROJECTS : HEALTH CARE

FEATURED PROJECT:
Leon County Health Center – Southside

Designed and built under the direction of the Florida Department of Health for the Leon County Health Department, the Southside Health Clinic consolidates several community services under one roof, in a part of Tallahassee undergoing significant redevelopment. In addition to a health clinic, the building houses Social Services offices and facilities for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, including a large classroom. Off the central waiting room is a 3,000 square foot multi-purpose room for Health Department and community use, intended as a “home” for the Tallahassee Boys’ Choir. Of equal concern in the design were the security of the building and its forty-person staff, as well as the convenience, comfort and dignity of its clients. Economically constructed of load-bearing masonry with a steel-framed roof, the single-story building is sensitive to the single-family residential character of the emerging neighborhood around it.
