FEATURED PROJECT:
Capital
Health Plan Medical Center/ Outpatient Medical Facility
This new
50,000 SF facility houses the administrative and medical
offices for one of the largest health maintenance organization
in the State of Florida. The two-story building includes three
medical modules, an eye care module, a pharmacy, x-ray department,
physicians’ library, and a staff lounge, as well as numerous
support areas. 4,300 square feet of space on the second floor
was built out as a shell for a fourth medical module to be finished
as it becomes needed. The primary functions of the building are
clustered around a two-story atrium to provide short travel distance
between departments and to bring daylight to the center of the
building. Building services such as mechanical, electrical, communications
and public toilet rooms are grouped together in a centralized
core to free up exterior walls for windows and day lighting.
The atrium is also equipped with a smoke evacuation system. Construction
was completed In January 1998. The exterior of the building works
to establish its identity as a premier health care provider as
well as a responsible addition in the “Tallahassee Context”.
