FEATURED PROJECT:
Sheriff’s Administration Building
When the Leon County Commission chose Johnson
Peterson Architects to design the Sheriff’s Administration
Building, it was very clear; this project must remain in budget
and be delivered on time! Because the new facility was funded
by the 1% supplemental sales tax, it could have been politically
explosive.
The structural frame alone remained from a former jail. All
else is new construction. In addition to offices, the facility
includes a crime lab, secure evidence rooms, the County 911
Call Center, a fitness center, holding cells and the operations
center. The 43,000 SF building was completed on time in 1994
and was constructed within the $4.3 million budget.
