FEATURED PROJECT:
Florida Department of Law Enforcement
Johnson/Peterson Architects was chosen to
design a single building that would be both efficient and economical
as well as a pleasant, secure place to work for this immense
staff of investigators, technicians, students and administrators.
Approaching the main security desk through the central foyer
allows the visitor to immediately see how functions are organized.
The fixed offices, labs and classrooms are grouped around three
courtyards, providing natural light yet maintaining security
on the building’s perimeter. Large windows allow the
landscape and light to be brought into the offices where glimpses
of bold color help orient both visitor and employee in the
bustling offices. The 24/7 Operations Center contains sophisticated
communications equipment which also instantly taps into the
FDLE Data Center, allowing instant access from every local
enforcement officer in Florida. The State Crime Lab, Evidence
Storage and the FDLE Academy are also housed in this 300,000
SF Complex.
