Johnson/Peterson Architects was formed in 1980 by Ivan Johnson, head of the architectural department of a large regional firm in Tallahassee, and Guy Peterson, chief of design for a Sarasota architectural firm. In 1984 they absorbed Peterson’s former firm to become Johnson Peterson Holiday Architects for the next five years, with offices in Tallahassee and Sarasota. When Michael Holiday moved to California in 1989, the firm again became Johnson/Peterson Architects. Guy Peterson moved back to Sarasota to assume responsibility for that office, while Ivan Johnson remains in Tallahassee. In 2000, Ivan Johnson became the sole owner when Guy Peterson left to pursue residential design.
